Lynne Wiesecke

Lynne Wiesecke has taught Multilingual Learners at Albemarle Road Elementary School in East Charlotte for more than two decades. She is now a Curriculum Coordinating Teacher with English Learner Services. In this curriculum, Lynne uses a self-created picture adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s story, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,  to lead young students with an immigration background through a comparative study of Dorothy’s journey through Oz and their own immigration experiences. Students are asked to create introspective, engaging and individualized digital graphic novels depicting their immigration journey in pictures and words.
