Holly Humes

Holly Blackford Humes, Professor of English at Rutgers University, Camden, teaches and publishes literary criticism on American, children’s, adolescent, and YA literature, film, and media. She has written and edited six books including Out of This World: Why Literature Matters to Girls (Teachers College, U of Columbia P, 2004) and Mockingbird Passing: Closested Traditions and Sexual Curiosities in Harper Lee’s Novel (U of Tennessee P, 2011). She is finishing a manuscript on puppetry, stop motion, and virtuality in youth media and working on Beyond Womanish: The Black Female Bildungsroman.
